Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 September 2026
This policy explains what PhonoFilm collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to phonofilm.cc (formerly phonofilm.net) and our Telegram bots.
1. What we collect
Account details. Your email address, display name, and — if you sign in with Google — the basic profile Google gives us. If you link a Telegram account for ad-free downloads, we store your Telegram user ID.
Payment records. Your order, the plan, the amount, the currency, and the transaction reference or invoice ID from the payment processor. This is what lets us confirm a payment, activate premium, and resolve a dispute.
Usage. What you watch, download, search for and rate, so we can continue where you left off and recommend titles. Plus ordinary technical data every website receives: IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps.
2. What we never collect
We never see or store card numbers, bank credentials, wallet private keys, or your payment passwords. Payments happen entirely on our processors' systems. We receive only the confirmation and the reference — never the instrument you paid with.
3. Why we use it
- To run your account — signing you in, keeping you signed in, and applying your premium entitlement.
- To take payment — confirming a transaction, activating a pass, emailing your receipt and welcome message, and answering disputes.
- To make the service work — resuming playback, remembering your list, and recommending titles based on what you have watched and rated.
- To keep it safe — detecting shared accounts, fraudulent payments and abuse, and enforcing rate limits.
- To improve it — aggregate statistics about which features and titles are used. This is counted, not profiled.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of processors, each for one job:
- Verify.ET — verifying Telebirr transaction references.
- OxaPay — cryptocurrency payments. They receive the invoice amount and your order ID.
- Resend — sending account and payment emails.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Cloudflare — serving the site and protecting it from attack.
- Telegram — only if you link a Telegram account for downloads.
We also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users, or the service's security.
5. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Blocking cookies will sign you out and prevent the site from working properly.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data — while your account exists, and briefly after deletion in backups.
- Payment records — kept after your account closes, because tax and accounting rules require it and it is the only way to resolve a later dispute.
- Usage history — while your account exists, or until you clear it.
- Technical logs — a short rolling window, then discarded.
7. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and personal data, keeping only the payment records we are required to retain.
- Unlink your Telegram account, or stop receiving non-essential email.
Message t.me/TheeLinguine from the account you want to act on and we will action it. Some of this you can already do yourself in Settings.
8. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you.
9. Children
PhonoFilm is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we hold data from a child under 13, we delete it.
10. International transfers
We operate from Ethiopia, and our providers operate in other countries, so your data may be processed outside where you live. We only use providers that handle it under appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes
We will update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will announce material changes on the site.
